Getting started
How do I turn Lock Me on?
Open Lock Me and follow the steps. It explains how it uses Accessibility, then opens Android's Accessibility settings. Find Lock Me there (on some phones it is under Installed apps or Downloaded apps) and turn it on. Back in Lock Me, add the widget, the Quick Settings tile or a shortcut, and switch on any automatic ways to lock you want.
Why does Lock Me need Accessibility?
Android only lets apps lock your screen through Accessibility, and it is the only way that keeps fingerprint and face unlock working afterwards. Lock Me uses it for that one thing. It cannot see what is on your screen and never reads what you type. You can turn it off any time in Settings, Accessibility, Lock Me.
How do I lock with a double tap on the back?
On a Pixel 4a (5G) or newer, open Settings, System, Gestures, Quick Tap. Turn it on, choose Open app, tap the settings icon next to it, then pick Lock Me and Lock now. Other phones with a back tap setting can open the same Lock now shortcut.
Something isn't working
"Advanced Protection turned Lock Me off"
Android's Advanced Protection blocks accessibility access for apps like Lock Me. You can keep it on, or turn it off in Security settings to use Lock Me.
Lock Me stopped locking, or the automatic ways stopped working
Some phone makers' battery savers stop apps in the background, which can switch off Lock Me. First check that Lock Me is still on in Accessibility settings. Then open Settings, Apps, Lock Me, Battery and choose Unrestricted (the names differ between phones). Don't kill my app! has the steps for each phone maker.
My scheduled lock was a few minutes late
Allow Alarms & reminders for Lock Me in Settings, Apps, Special app access, Alarms & reminders. Without it, Android may delay scheduled locks by a few minutes.
"Watch disconnects" doesn't lock my phone
Your watch must be paired with your phone over Bluetooth, and Lock Me needs the Nearby devices permission, which it asks for when you choose the watch. Lock Me only notices when that watch disconnects; it never scans for or connects to devices.
Free week and subscription
What happens when the free week ends?
Your first 7 days are free, with no payment details needed. After that, Lock Me needs a monthly or yearly subscription to keep locking your phone. The automatic ways to lock you had turned on are switched off, and come back when you subscribe. Lock Me sends you a notification when this happens.
Will reinstalling give me another free week?
No. The free week is offered once per phone, and reinstalling the app keeps the week you already used.
I changed phones or reinstalled the app
Open Lock Me's Settings and tap Restore purchases while signed in to the Google account you subscribed with.
How do I cancel?
In the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Lock Me and Cancel subscription. You keep Lock Me until the end of the period you have paid for. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Within 48 hours of buying, you can usually ask for a refund directly from Google Play. After that, email us with your Google Play order number (it starts with GPA.). Refunds follow our Terms of Use.
Privacy and your data
What does Lock Me know about me?
Very little. There is no account, no ads and no analytics, and sensor readings and your watch never leave your phone. To run the free week and your subscription, Lock Me shares a hashed device ID and your purchase records with RevenueCat and Google Play. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How do I delete my data?
Uninstalling Lock Me removes everything it keeps on your phone. To delete the records RevenueCat keeps for your subscription, email us with your Google Play order number (it starts with GPA.) so we can find them. If you never subscribed, the only record is a hashed device ID that cannot be linked back to you.
